Outdoor sauna installation complete in Bedfordshire
When Richard and Susanne first began looking for an outdoor sauna, they knew they wanted something that would perform consistently to give them daily evening sessions where they could relax and recover. They knew they didn’t want a barrel shape or a flat pack kit, but something that had been made with proper care and attention to detail, along with materials that would stand up to the test of time and British weather conditions.
They were looking for a space to relax after long walks, recover after cycling, unwind after time in the garden, and enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of regular sauna use from the comfort of home. After spending around a year looking at different sauna suppliers, they discovered True North and chose our Sola outdoor sauna for their home in Bedfordshire.

A sauna designed around health, relaxation and recovery
Richard and Susanne live an active lifestyle. Walking, cycling and gardening are already part of their weekly routine, so they wanted a sauna that would support how they already enjoy spending their time.
For them, this was about creating a spa-at-home experience. Somewhere warm, calm and easy to use, where they could recover properly, switch off together and enjoy a few quiet moments at the end of the day.
The brief was an outdoor sauna that felt contemporary and refined, without overpowering the garden. It needed to be compact enough to sit comfortably on their patio, while still offering enough room inside for them to relax properly. Our Sola model was the perfect fit.
The Sola offers a considered balance between footprint, comfort and performance. It is compact enough for smaller outdoor spaces, but spacious enough to seat three people comfortably, making it ideal for couples, families or hosting friends.
Designed to sit naturally within the garden
One of the most important parts of this project was making sure the sauna felt connected to the existing garden, rather than looking like something simply placed into it.

Richard and Susanne already had charcoal grey garden structures, including a shed and workshop, so the Sola was finished externally in a matching charcoal grey. This helped the sauna sit naturally within the space and gave the finished installation a calm, cohesive look.
The sauna was installed on their garden patio and raised on concrete posts, helping protect the patio while keeping the timber structure lifted away from direct ground contact.
A warm, comfortable interior

Inside, the sauna was finished with thermo aspen internal timber, creating a soft, warm and refined feel. Thermo aspen is a beautiful timber choice for sauna interiors. It has a clean, smooth appearance and helps create the calm, natural atmosphere people often associate with a premium sauna experience.
The internal layout seats three people comfortably, giving Richard and Susanne plenty of space to enjoy the sauna together while keeping the overall size of the building modest enough for their garden.
Easy to use, even before you get home
A key part of the brief was ease of use. Richard and Susanne wanted a sauna that could fit around real life, not something that felt complicated or inconvenient. The WiFi controls were an important feature, allowing them to start heating the sauna before they get home from a walk, a cycle, a meal out or a day away.
That means the sauna can be warm and ready when they arrive back, making it far easier to use regularly. For a home sauna, this kind of convenience turns the sauna from something you need to plan around into something that can become part of your normal routine.
The finished result

Since the installation was completed in April 2026, Richard and Susanne have been using their Sola almost every day. Their typical routine is around 15-minute sauna rounds at approximately 80°C, giving them time to properly relax, reset and enjoy the heat together.
After a 12-week lead time, the finished sauna has given Richard and Susanne exactly what they were looking for; a high-quality outdoor sauna that supports their lifestyle, complements their garden and gives them a spa-at-home experience they can enjoy whenever they like.
